Yaounde-Douala highway accident :Transport Minister weighs-in

25/10/2017Just one day after the ghastly accident that left fifteen people dead, the Minister of Transport clamps down on the pepetrators.

Minister Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o in a communiqué made public on Tuesday 24th October  2017 stated that preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the seventy-seater bus engaged in a reckless overtaking.

Based on the finding, the inter-urban transport company that owns the bus involved in the accident will be closed for three months.

In a second decision, the driver’s licence is suspended for a period of twelve months.

The communiqué states that these are just initial measures that do not exclude an eventual court action.

The accident which occured on the stretch between Boumyebel and Sombo precisely at Mahoule involved a bus belonging to General Express company, a trailer and a timber transporting truck.
