2018 African Champions League: Draw published

The draw of the 2018 African Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup have been carried out ahead of the first leg matches to be organised in February 2018.

Eding Sport FC of Lekie will play against Plateau United of Jos-Nigeria at the preliminary stage while New Stars of Douala will take on Deportivo Niefang of Equatorial Guinea.

Eding Football Club, an Elite 1 team versus Plateau FC will reignite the long time rivalry between Cameroon and Nigeria in the domain of football.

The two champions of their respective national soccer league will compete for a place in the 2018 CAF champions league.

The Cameroonian team will need more tacte to face a team that has two big names; Plateau FC’s former international player, Celestine Babayaro and current international, John Obinna Mikel back to the continental showdown after 17 years.

After winning the Nigerian premier league last season accumulating 66 points from 38 matches, the boys of Kenedy Boboye will be looking forward for a better game inspite of a poor show in the year 2000.

The Jos based club will also be counting on a cream of experienced players led by forward Ogene Elisha
Eding on their part are winners of the just ended Cameroon local league football with 63 points.

The five year old team, has been reinforced with some new comers; David Etoo (Samuel Etoo’s brother) and Djonkep Bonaventure the new coach.
Eding Club created in 2012 evolved to a first division in 2015 .

Book makers believe New Stars of Douala, current champions of the Cup of Cameroon are lucky to have been paired with Deportivo Deportivo Niefang of Equatorial Guinea; a team from the north with a population of less than five thousand inhabitants.

The second division team just won the President’s Cup, first time for a second division outfit to do so in Guinea.

The games will take place on the weekend of 9,10 &11 of February 2018 with return leg a week after.

The first leg match programmed to take place at the Twang Pan Stadium in Jos Nigeria while the return leg takes place in Yaounde-Cameroon.
