Insecurity: Four Gendarmes killed in another attack in Manyu Division

A Gendarmerie Post at Kembong village near Mamfe in Manyu Division of the South West Region was the target of an attack by secessionist fighters.

During the raid, assailants killed four Gendarmes who were deployed to ensure the return of law and order in the South West Region.

The secessionist extremists made away with weapons of the defence and security officers who died.

Cameroon’s defence and security forces counter attacked and neutralised a good number of the assailants. They also took over control of weapons and ammunitions.

The Minister of Communication, government’s spokesperson, Issa Tchiroma Bakary made public the information during a press briefing in Yaounde on 18th December 2017.

He indicated that the Head of State has transmitted a condolence message to the affected families assuring them that everything will be done for peace and order to reign in the North West and South West Regions.

The attack took place this Monday, 18th December 2017. The incursion comes at a time when Regional Governors are meeting in Yaounde to discuss security challenges and the concept of living together in their respective regions.

The Manyu Division in the South West Region has been on the spotlight recently following different attacks on defence and security forces. So far, at least twelve uniform men have been in the in North West and South West Regions, a majority in Manyu.
