End of year festivities: security officials on the offensive
Bandits and fraudsters traditionally take atvantage of the end of year festive period to steal money and goods from peaceful citizens.
On several occasions these thieves distribute fake bank cheques, they also use the social media or telephone calls to take advantage of the naivety of victims.
Pick pockets on their parts miss no opportunity to snatch bags and purses in crowded areas mostly markets, travel agencies or roadside.
Security officials affirm that some of these thieves disguise as priests and other religious leaders to quickly earn the trust of their prey.
The forces of law and order have closed in ranks to check these mal practices .
They call on citizens to remain vigilant and watchout for any unknown person who comes over with promises..
The population is exhorted to avoid last minute preparations inoder not to fall prey.
People moving in and out of the market or bus stations must keep close watch over their personal belongings.
Avoid making financial transactions on phone or in taxis or public areas.
These Forces of Law and order have also been deployed in markets, banks, travel agencies, etc.to reinforce security.
