Former Cameroon international player, Benjamin Roger Massing has died at the age of 55.

The player,Benjamin Roger Massing died in the night of Saturday 9th December 2017 at his home in Edea, Littoral region.

Benjamin Roger Massing born on 20 June 1962 played with the indomitable lions as a central defender.

The defender’s body check on Claudio Caniggia in the opening game against Argentina during the 1990 World cup in Milan has often been described as one of the worst tackles in World Cup history.

This action, still vivid in the minds of football lovers, earned him an immediate exit from the opening game at the 1990 World Cup.Massing played in France at Creteil, he won 34 caps for Cameroon between 1986 and 1992.

Before going international, Massing began his football career with Diamant of Yaounde (1986-1988), played with Creteil in France (1988-1991)where he scored four goals.

From 1991-1992 the late player was signed into Olympic Mvolye of Yaounde.

Massing Benjamin played with the Cameroon National team for five years,1987-1992.

Since his death, football lovers and the entire sports family in Cameroon have been extending messages of condolences to members of his family.
Former Cameroon international Patrick Mboma wrote on social media;
“We all have our heroes. It is hard to wake up and hear that one of them has gone. A lion never dies, he sleeps! Farewell champion” .

The cause of his death is still to be reported.
