04/12/2017The Governor of the South West Region, Bernard Okalia Bilai in a recent media outing urges the population of Manyu Division especially those around Mamfe, Eyumujock and Akwaya to stay in their villages assuring them of government’s protection.
Mr Bernard Okalia Bilai also calls on the population to collaborate with competent authorities to reinstate peace and security.
The South West Regional Governor’s persuasion comes after reports, attributed to the Senior Divisional Officer of Manyu, cautioned the population of specific villages to relocated in view of an eventually rampage following the killing of eight army and police officers.
An uneasy calm currently prevails in the division that hit headline news last week following the brutal murder of eight men in uniform on mission to ensure peace and security.
Shortly after his arrival in Yaoundé at the end of the 5th AU-EU summit in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, President Paul Biya assured Cameroonians that the perpetrators of the repeated terrorist acts will be neutralised.
The next day, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence presided over a meeting to assess the security situation and identify ways of dealing with this wave of killings that began earlier in the North West Region.
The closed door meeting was attended by top officials in charge of defence and security in the country.
