The distribution of the Paul Biya Higher Education Vision, PBHEV computers have effectively begun at the University of Yaoundé I.
Some one thousand students of the University each received a laptop during the first phase of the distribution under the supervision of the Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo.
He was welcomed with a standing ovation by the excited students who had turned out to receive the five hundred thousand computers to students of higher education offered by the Head of State, President Paul Biya.
Professor Jacques Fame Ndong indicated that the computer offered to students is part of a 75 billion CFAF partnership convention between Cameroon and China that will also lead to the building of nine hundred digital centres in Cameroonian Universities.
Curiosity and great expectations pulled the students of the University of Yaoundé l to the Rectorate of the university where there are expected to present their biometric registration cards in order to become an owner of the PBHEV laptop.
The symbolic handing over of the first generation notebook laptops was witnessed by a delegation from the Chinese embassy in Yaounde. The computers have been fabricated in China are equipped with Microsoft Operating Systems and software.
Some forty thousand students biometrically enrolled at the University of Yaounde l will benefit from the presidential gift.
The distribution will continue in the University of Yaounde II this Wednesday 27th December 2017.
