2018 Mount Cameroon Race : last preparatory meeting sets hold

The 2018 edition of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope is just two days away and last minute preparations are heating up with the organisation committee at its best.

The medical check up for the athletes, a prerequisite for participation,opened this morning Wednesday 14th February 2018 in Buea,the town to host the big event.

Five hundreds participants are due to take part in the race that will see fifty two female athletes,two hundred and ninety-nine male competitors and many others in different categories.

The contestants are from South Africa,Nepal,Australia,Spain,France,Kenya and Cameroon.

The meeting organised by the central committee of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope was chaired by the Secretary General in the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, Dr. Oumarou Tado.

During the come together,the various sub-commitees presented their detailed plan of action a prove that they at the last bend to the big event.

Concerning the difficulties posed by Kenyan athletes in acquiring visas,the Secretary General exhorted the organisers to burn midnight candles behind the Ministry of External Relations and the Directorate General of National Security for a solution.

The local organisers from the host town, Buea reassured everyone that all is set for the D-day.

This year’s edition according to the organisers is a pulse setting one in both the mens and women’s categories.

The mens category will see atleast six former winners battle for the top. Two times winner  Janarius,Godlove Ngabsibuin,Joseph Konyuy, Ernest Vofo Momo, Supplice Ndongue will be part of the contest to attempt a repeat of their victories.

In the ladies round, seven time winner Yvonne Ngwaya and one time winner Galim Lizette  will be challenged by an uprising Tata Carine and Patience Ngwaya whose vitality can not be under estimated.

To watchout for this edition is Jeremiah Mofor who just won the 2018 test race.

The highly awaited race will be staged this Saturday 17th February 2018.
