Diplomacy: Cameroon/Israel strengthen bilateral ties 

 The state of diplomatic and bilateral cooperation between Cameroon and Israel in the last two years was the focus of a press briefing organised this Wednesday 14th February 2018 at the Israeli Embassy in Yaoundé.

The two hours conference which started at 10a.m. was occasion for the Ambassador of Israel to Cameroon His Excellency Ran Gidor to pinpoint some key areas of cooperation since he was accredited to Cameroon.

The official in charge of Hi- Tech, Humanitarian and cultural activities at the presented of some remarkable achievements registered in Cameroon including:

-The creation of the Israel Hi-Tech Centre at the Yaoundé Polytechnic School Cameroon; a centre that has trained students from Cameroon and across Africa on industrial electricity systems, robotics and mechanics.

– Empowering 100 participants from ten regions of Cameroon to partake in a training that would qualify them as hi-tech entrepreneurs.

– The Israeli embassy in 2017 provided computer hardware to students of the Government Technical School – CETIC Ngoa-Ekele in Yaounde.

In the domain of humanitarian activities, the embassy highlighted constant assistance given to refugees in the East Region in terms of food, clothing medication, education.

The Embassy also provided material assistance to 30 women living with disabilities and gave medical assistance to children suffering with sickle cell.

In culture, the embassy has facilitated the introduction of Israeli theatre piece into Cameroonian such as: “Ulysses of Gaza” and “The best friends of Ana Gov”, a theatre piece which gained admiration during the Cameroon Film Festival “Ecrans Noirs”. Israeli cultural evenings were also hosted in Cameroon and cultural values of both countries exchanged.

The long standing partnership between Cameroon and Israel has also contributed in upgrading the Cameroon agricultural sector. Hundreds of Cameroonian students have received agricultural training in Israel. They are benefited from equipment that can enable them open large farms in Cameroon.

The Israeli government has also introduced new forms of irrigation farming in desert areas like the Northern Regions of Cameroon.

The close to 30years bilateral ties between Cameroon and Israel also produced benefits in some architecture. Israeli architectural expertises are visible in the construction of the Yaoundé Hilton and Monte Febe hotels.

Ambassador Ran Gidor lauded the fruitful bilateral ties existing between both countries and noted that there was much to accomplish from the relationship in the days ahead.
