Calm has returned in the Far North Regional capital Maroua after a four hour conflict between Commercial Motor Bike riders and administrative/ security officials .
The conflict was witnessed Wednesday 30th January 2018 after the arrest of a commercial Motor Bike rider involved in an accident.
After the accident it was realised that the rider was circulating without the reguired documents most especially an insurrance policy.
He was subsequently detained, much to the disapproval of his mates.
The protest that ensued saw the association of Motor bike riders storming the police station insisting on the release of their colleaque.
As a result, traffic was blocked for over four hours rendering circulation difficult in parts of the town.
After long hours of negotiation with administrative authorities traffic was restored and calm returned.
The Senior Divisional Officer for Diamare Division, Ernest Samuel Ebele assured the population that the situation was under complete control.
