KENYA
A prominent Kenyan newspaper ” The Daily Nation” has published a fake death notice of one of Kenya’s main opposition leaders Jimmy Wanjigi. The opposition leader said he considered the action a “death promise “.Other prominent Kenyan figures also reacted with much concern to what they considered “a tiny veiled threat”. The incident has raised an alarm in Kenya’s political landscape . “The Daily Nation” apologized after generating what it called ” pain and anguish” on the opposition leader. The action has however drawn heavy criticism from Kenya’s political class.

SYRIA
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says over 200 civilians have been killed in four days in Syrian government air strikes in parts of Eastern Gouta near Damascus. The air strikes are reported to have left 54 children and 41 women dead. About 700 others are also said to have been injured. The group recorded thirty one deaths on Monday, eighty one on Tuesday, forty one on Wednesday and sixty on Thursday.
The Eastern Gouta has been under siege for over four years . Escalations increased in May when the government forces went on an offensive .

FRANCE
A fifty-one year old Islamic scholar, Tariq Ramadan has been jailed in France over charges of rape brought by two women. The charges involve claims of violent and perverse sexual acts carried out on the victims. The University professor of contemporary Islamic studies had declared his innocence. The University of Oxford has given him leave of absence to attend to the judicial proceedings. The case is being investigated in Paris and Lyon where he is alleged to have defiled the women. He is married and a father of four children.

UNITED STATES
Multiple sources have disclosed that former senior aids to president Donald Trump were aware of allegations of domestic violence against White House staff Rob Porter by his ex-wives. President Trump is said to have gone furious after he was shown reports of the allegations on Tuesday. The White House senior staff denied the allegations, but resigned on Wednesday.
