Rehabilitation works are expected to begin soon on the Mora-Dabanga-Kousseri stretch of road, which forms part of National Road No.1.
Ahead of this,the Minister of the Minister of Public Works,Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi travels to Kousseri in the Far-North to preside over the launch of reconstruction works on the highway.
The rehabilitation of the 212-kilometre road from Mora passing through Dabanga to Kousseri is co-financed by the World Bank and the Government of Cameroon.
Work on the stretch of road will be partitioned into three laps;
- Kousseri- Maltam- Dabanga (72.5km)
- Dabanga-Ndiguina-Waza (70.5km)
- Waza-Mora (60km) plus a 7km stretch to Kousseri
The rehabilitation works will respect a 7m width and 1.5m on each of the sidewalks.
According to communique from the Ministy of Public Works, the work will be carried out as follows;
The 62km stretch of road linking Waza to Mora will be completely renewed taking into consideration a 10cm depth format; 5cm made up of concrete and 5cm thick of tar.
The Waza-Dabanga lap that cover some 70.5km long will receive a facelift.
The 72.50km Dabanga-Kousseri section of the road will be renewed with a 17cm depth,12cm concrete foundation.
The project will be executed by the Military Engineering Corps, taking over from a Chinese firm that initially won the bid but due to Boko Haram terrorist activities in the area, decided to forfeit the job.

The Public Works boss will be accompanied by his colleague,the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence,Joseph Beti Assomo and the Secretary of State at the Public Works,Louis Max Ayena Ohandja.
