Indomitable Lions: Cameroon beats Kuwait 3-1 at international friendly

The Kuwait national team lost to Cameroon 3-1 in an international friendly match that took place at the Jabar International Stadium in Kuwait on Sunday 25th March 2018.

The Indomitable Lions, managed by interim coach Alexandre Belinga succeeded in obtaining the victory which comes after a couple of setbacks for the team.

The reigning African champion that is still looking for a permanent Coach, failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

Match highlight

The first half of Sunday’s match was highly dominated by the Lions with more than 69% ball possession.

Barely eleven minutes into the first half, Aboubakar Vincent, Cameroon’s attacker scored the first goal against Kuwait.

Christian Bassogog, at the 16th minute increased Cameroon’s score line situation to 2-0.

The first half of the game ended with Cameroon leading 2-0 after all attempts by their opponent to make a difference were thwarted by the Cameroonian goalkeeper.

Twelve minutes into the second half, Cameroon’s forward Bassogog netted a second goal giving Cameroon a 3-0 leadership.

Kuwait’s Yusuf Nasser succeeded in getting the ball from Cameroon’s defense and passed it to Yaqoub Tararwa who scored Kuwait’s sole goal at the 65th minute.

Cameroon maintained a strong defense after their third goal and ended the clash in their favour.

Added to Cameroon’s three goalkeepers, Carlos Kameni, Andre Onana and Fabrice Ondoa who made a field appearance were new faces.

Fabrice Ngah, Stephan Bahoken and Tawamba were all making their debut appearance in the national squad.

The Kuwait encounter was another opportunity to continue preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament hosted by Cameroon.
