News update: Regional titbits

The Minister of Secondary Education, Dr Nalova Lyonga pays a working visit to GTHS Nkolbisson, Yaounde, this and more in our regional titbits.

1) Centre Region

Minister of Secondary Education, Dr. Nalova Lyonga has paid a working visit to the Government Technical High School Nkolbisson,Yaounde.

During her tour the new Secondary Education boss reiterated the importance of technical education to a developing nation like Cameroon.

The Minister after evaluating the quality of course work of the various departments of the school pledged continuous government support and
asked school administrators to promote professional training.

Minister Nalova Lyonga was accompanied by the Secretary of State in the Ministry Bayoula Boniface.

2) South Region

Rehabilitation works will soon start on the National Road number 2.

The over two decade old stretch of road that links the Centre and South regions has been in a very bad state. The launch of maintenance works is a relief to the population that has been in disarray following recurrent car accidents especially the Ngoulmakang and Mengong stretch. This stretch continues to Gabon and Equatorial Guinea to Cameroon.

3) Adamawa Region

“Adamawa Void of Road Accidents in 2018” is the slogan of a road safety campaign being organised by the Adamawa Regional Delegation of Transport.

Officials of the Delegation will during this campaign visit travel agencies, speak with school drivers and workers on issues relating to the highway code.

The campaign, the regional delegate stated, has been organised to clamp down road accidents in the region.

4) East Region

The newly constructed Bertoua modern market stores are still to receive its first set of occupants.

The market constructed following modern standards, to ease market organisation and circulation, was inaugurated three months ago.

Since the inauguration, inhabitants have expressed little interest in occupying the stores arguing that the rents and taxes are unusually high.

5) North West Region

A two months cultural jamboree dubbed “Unsong Hero Inter Village Cultural Festival” is ongoing in Bafut, North West Region.


The event has been organised to rejuvenated the ailing culture of the people of Bafut.

Young men and women from neighbouring villages are taking part in the festivities in which many are familiarised with the culture and acquainted with their civil responsibilities.

The event is highlighted with dance competitions and other entartaining displays.
