Senate: Marcel Niat Njifenji re-elected President

Senator Marcel Niat Njifenji has been elected President of the second five year legislative period.

The election was conducted during a plenary session chaired by the Eldest member of the House, Fon Victor Mukete.

The exercise began after the eldest member checked the quorum and declared it was attained, the verification paved the way for elections.

The Head of the CPDM group at the Senate proposed the candidature of Marcel Niat Njifenji.
He stood unopposed. Ballots were distributed to the Senators present who proceeded with the voting that lasted few minutes.
Two officers; one from the CPDM and the second from the SDF party were appointed to count the votes.

The results read out by Senator Victor Mukete indicated 96 valid votes casted among which were 7 empty ballots.

Senator Marcel Niat Njifenji won with an absolute majority; 89 out of 96 votes cast.

The elections marks the effective start of the second legislative period under the stewardship of Senator Marcel Niat Njifenji .

The incumbent was President of the Senate during the first legislature.

After the election, the new President, immediately took over from the eldest member. He chaired election of the first vice President.
