The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have qualified for the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations,AWCON, to take place in Ghana.
The Lionesses trashed the She Red Devils of Congo 5-0 in the last round 2018 Women AFCON qualifiers at the Yaounde Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium.
Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses finally obtained a 10 – 0 agregate against the She Devils of Congo.
During the return and last match of the qualifiers on Saturday 6th June 2018, Cameroon controlled the game from start to finish.
At the 20th minute,Nchout Ajara opened scores after a cross from Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene.
Two minutes later, Abena Therese’s tactful free kick to the Congolese net resulted to a second goal for the Lionesses .
Eleven minutes after the second half,Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene scored a spectacular goal and one more just two minutes after visiting the net.
The scoreline situation was 4-0 untill Akaba Michelle Hneriette who replaced Nchout Ajara closed the goal table at the 84th minute.
Cameroon qualifies in grand style with a ten goal aggregate, the highest in all her seven qualifications for the African Women’s Cup of Nation.
One more team needs to obtain a qualification ticket to bring the total to eight to take part in the finals stage of the tournament.
The six other countries that have qualified for the 2018 AWCON in Ghana are;
Nigeria, the defending champions that defeated The Gambia 1-0 .
South Africa that trampled over Lesotho 6-0 .
Algeria that had a win over Ethiopia.
Equatorial Guinea also qualified after overturning a 2-1 first leg deficit against Kenya.
Mali that progressed to the finals after a 0-0 home draw with Côte Ivoire did not get a clear victory because the way leg was also a draw game.
Her position as host of the tournament however earns her automatic qualification
Zimbabwe – who won their away leg 1-0 – suffered heartbreak at home to Zambia to go out on the away goals rule.
