Senate: four bills tabled at the Upper House of Parliament

Four bills that had been examined and adopted at the national Assemble from 11th June 2018 have been tabled this Thursday, 14th June 2018 before the Upper House of Parliament for scrutiny.

The bills were tabled during the plenary session chaired by Senate President Marcel Niat Njifenji.  The Chairmen’s conference of the state received the bill on Wednesday, deemed it admissible before tabling it in front of the general assembly.

The 17 members of the bureau of the Senate, 9 chairmen of the commission and the secretary general who are members of the chairmen’s conference proceeded to the deliberation behind closed doors at the Yaoundé Conference Centre.

The session chaired by Senate President, Marcel Marcel Niat Njifenji was attended by the representative of the Vice Prime Minister, in charge of Relations with the Assemblies, Jules Doret Ndongo, who is also Minister of Forests and Wildlife.

The four bills received by the upper house of Parliament concern authorizations to ratify agreements and conventions. The first text authorizes the President of the Republic to accept the amendment to Article 8 of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

The other two texts deal with the ratification of two conventions with the Russian Federation while the latest bill allows the Head of State to ratify the cooperation agreement between Cameroon and Nigeria.
