Fra’ Giacomo Dalla Torre Del Tempio Di Sanguinetto awarded Doctor Honoris Causa

On the second day of his official visit to Cameroon, the Grand Master of the Sovereign Order of Malta, His Most Eminent Highness Fra’ Giacomo Dalla Torre Del Tempio Di Sanguinetto has been awarded the Doctor Honoris Causa.

The Grand Master becomes to fifth personality to receive the honorary academic distinction from the University of Yaoundé I.

During the event attended by the Minister of Communication and chancellor of academic orders, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo and the Minister of External Relations, Lejuene Mbella Mballa, the college of University professors pointed to humanitarian actions and philosophy of the Grand Master as reasons the justified the honorary degree.

Professor Maurice Aurelian Sosso, Rector of the University of Yaoundé I welcome the august guest of the President of the Republic to the University Campus to the academic distinction.

The Vice Rector in charge of cooperation, Professor Jean Emmanuel Pondi read out the motivation for the degree.

The Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo praised the Grand Master for enhancing the image of the university and Cameroon as a whole by accepting the degree before crowning him with the robe of Doctor Honoris Causa.

The Prince and Grand Master of the Sovereign Order of Malta, His Most Eminent Highness Fra’ Giacomo Dalla Torre Del Tempio Di Sanguinetto in an address in his native Italian hailed the teaching of classical letters and philosophy in Cameroon.

The University of Yaoundé I choir thrilled the solemn graduation ceremony attended by a huge crowd of university students and other state dignitaries at the Amphitheatre 700.
