The candidacy of the presidential candidate for the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement (CPDM) has been made official.
The Secretary of Central Committee of the CPDM Jean Kuete, accompanied by the Director of Civil Cabinet at the Presidency, Samuel Mvondo Ayolo deposited files of CPDM candidate, Paul Biya at Election Cameroon, ELECAM Head office, Yaoundé at 4:00pm, six hours after it was announced via a tweet at 10:00am.
The two men of the CPDM delegation who conveyed the file to ELECAM were welcome upon arrival by the Chairman of the Electoral Board of ELECAM, Enow Abrams Egbe and the Director General of Elections, Erik Essousse.
The delegation had a brief chat with the ELECAM officials behind closed doors. They were later accompanied to the commission for the reception of the candidate files at the third floor of the ELECAM building.
The file bearers were identified by the head of the commission before they proceeded with verification and deposition of the file off camera.
At the end of the exercise that lasted a few minutes, the Secretary General of the CPDM granted an interview to the numerous turned out at the ELECAM head office.
Jean Kuete highlighted the importance of President Paul Biya’s candidature for him to continue ongoing development projects and initiatives to build a peaceful united and prosperous nation.
Regarding the choice of the incumbent to announce his decision to run by tweet, Jean Kuete said the CPDM is a social party that evolves with the people and the choice of the social media is intended to direct the message directly to the people.
He added that the CPDM party is working hard to ensure that the population in the English speaking regions of the country should live in peace and harmony, and contribute to the development of the country.
