2018 African Athletics Championship: Cameroon gets a medal
The 21st African Athletics Championship organised in Nigeria has wrapped up in Asaba.
Cameroonian Germaine Abessolo Bevina got a silver medal in the Women’s 200 metres dash.
The lone metal was registered on the last day of the competition following a series of failures for team Cameroon.
The medal placed Cameroon fourteenth in the competition.
Kenyan delegation overpowered South Africa on the final day of the competition to finish first with nineteen medals, eleven in gold.
South Africa descended to the second position with a total of thirty medals, nine in gold.
The host, Nigeria finished third with nineteen medals in total, nine in gold
Germaine Abessolo Bevina: Winner of Cameroon’s lone medal
Germaine Abessolo Bivina the Cameroonian sprinter was born in Zoetele, centre region on 9th May 1990.
The athelete wirh a positive track record won a silver medal in the 4×100 metres relay at the 2017 La Francophonie Games, a bronze at the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games and recently a silver medal at the 2018 African Athletics Championship.
