2018 Elite One Championship: Coton Sport of Garoua grabs 15th title

Coton Sport of Garoua has been crowned 2018 champion of the just ended Elite One Championship.

The present champion fondly called “Les Cotonniers /The Cottoners” humbled seventeen other competing teams to get the trophy at the Elite One competition for the fifteenth time.

The Garoua boys staged an impressive show at the just ended 2018 season with the following results.

Coton Sport Garoua in the history of football

Ranked in Elite one, the football club is in Garoua. The team plays home games at the Stade Omnisport of Garoua.

The north regional capital Garoua has two well-known football clubs; the most mythical, Etoile Filante of Garoua and Coton Sport of Garoua.

The club was founded in 1986 in the lower leagues until its promotion to the country’s Premier League in 1992.

Since 1996, Coton Sport has dominated local football winning eleven league titles.

In 2008 the club finished runners up in the CAF Champions League, losing to Al Ahly SC of Egypt in the final.
