2019 AFCON: “From the depth of our hearts, we want Cameroon to host” CAF’s first Vice President

The present President of the Nigerian Football Federation and the First Vice President of CAF, Amaju Melvin Pinnick has re-iterated CAF’s support for Cameroon, host of the 2019 AFCON.

The First Vice President of CAF, led a delegation of an Ad hoc Organization Committee to CAF to Cameroon.

The working visit that preceded CAF’s third inspection mission in the country was an opportunity for the CAF high profile personality to throw his weights on Cameroon.

The CAF high profile personality,Amaju Pinnick shared his impressions of Cameroon during an interview with the CRTV

Mr. Vice President, you just had a meeting with the Cameroon’s Sports boss, can we please have details of that meeting?

We had a meeting with the key members of the AFCON bureau made up of the Secretariat and the AFCON committee which consist of six of our members from different parts of Africa.

So far, the things we have seen are impressive. The government has made huge efforts to host the best AFCON we could ever have, and we are very excited to see the outcome.

Our meeting today is basically to tell people that we are eager to see Cameroon host. This is not only going to be for Cameroon but for the African continent.

Let us not have any form of misconception because we are here for very serious business. From the amazing presentation made, the business is going to be fruitful.

Cameroon is the heart of Africa and I do not think that after the tournament, any country can have the type of facility we are going to possess.

The CAF president Ahmad Ahmad is in total support of what is being done for the 2019 AFCON. He receives daily updates and is anxious about the happenings.

I also came to discuss all the challenges we have come across and plus the assurances the Minister of Sports has given us.

Cameroon is one of the greatest nations as far as football is concerned in the world and nobody is going to take it away from the country.

The previous day I told people that I know more of Cameroonian legends than Nigerians.

It can be hard to believe, but while growing up I knew Mbouh Emile, ageless Emmanuel Kunde, Thomas Nkono, the kana Biyick brothers and many others.

It is with pride that I say Cameroon is a very good footballing nation which has been able to develop some facilities. However, we need to go the extra miles to be the best.

Taking a look at the world cup, it made us visualize high standards. Every CAF administration has their own notion behind the acquisition of the nation cup.

For this reason, we want Cameroon to host the first AFCON Cup under the leadership of Ahmad Ahmad who has brought a lot of changes to the football milieu.

For instance, those who went for the World Cup could establish a difference with the other tournaments.

“It is such standards that we want to create for the AFCON which will be hosted by Cameroon up to the point where every country in Africa looking at Cameroon will have the urge to create something similar.”

“We are here for serious business and from the depth of our hearts we want Cameroon to host the 2019 AFCON in grand style”
