The Head of State, Paul Biya will join scores of African Heads of State and Governments to participate in the China – Africa summit. He is accompanied by First Lady Chantal Biya to this important high level submit whose outcome could possibly influence the course of China – Africa relations especially in the areas of diplomatic ties and economic cooperation.
It is hope that during the high level meeting between President Paul Biya of Cameroon and his Chinese counter Xi JinPing in Beiging new horizons of cooperation between the two countries that share a common vision will open.
The latest trip is the second to China in five months to meet his Chinese counterpart, Xi JinPing, symbolizing the rapprochement between the two leaders. ¨President Paul Biya was in China in March 2018 for a three day State Visit during which he was conferred the distinguished title of the “Great Friend of China”. He also signed a number of protocol agreements to strengthen cooperation ties binding Beijing and Yaounde.
As it stands China is one of Cameroon’s leading commercial partners with China – Cameroon trade estimated at two billion US dollars. Besides trade, Yaounde and Beijing enjoy fruitful partnership in the domains of tourism, military, cultural exchange and development. The recent exemption of visa requirements for holders of service passports is another boost to the mutually beneficial diplomatic ties.
