Conference on China-Africa: President Paul Biya and delegation on the offensive

The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation FOCAC organised under the theme, “Win-win Cooperation and Join Hands to Build a Closer Community with Shared Future for China and Africa” has been great opportunity for the Cameroonian delegation.

In the sidelines of discussions involving the leaders, the delegation from Cameroon has been discussing with business partners.

The high-level delegation of Ministers and representatives of the private sector from GICAM have also had rich exchanges with Chinese companies one of which ended with a partnership agreement signed with Huawei a company specialised in communication and telecommunication gadgets.

But the high point of Cameroon’s participation during the forum on China-Africa was Friday 31st August 2018 shortly after President Paul Biya arrived Beijing.

During a tête a tête with President Xi Jinping that was later expanded to their accompanying delegations, China made a number of concessions to Cameroon.

President Paul Biya requested and obtained from China, a partial cancellation of Cameroun’s debt.

Cameroon’s leader also requested and obtained the financing of the Yaoundé-Douala, Edea-Kribi motorways and the Yaounde-Nsimalen road.

At the end of the encounter, two cooperation agreements for technical assistance to three of the country’s medical facilities were signed.

The President of the People’s Republic of China once again described President Paul Biya as a strategic player in the sino-africa relations.
