Cross Boarder Banditary: Security officials arrest three suspects involved in Vehicle theft

Three suspects have been arrested at the Ambam- Kye-Ossi border thanks to sub-regional cooperation in the domaine of security.

The arrest led to the recovery of seven luxury vehicles, in the meantime, the three suspects are currently detained at the Yaounde Central police station. The suspects were identified as;

1) Mabicka Mouba Jacques Cesar, Gabonese gang leader resident in Yaoundé
2) Avom Etoa, Cameroonian
3) Njimbam Adamou, Cameroonian

A fourth suspect, Landry Engoulou is on the run.
He is an employee of a Gabonese company, ” Les Batis Project” .

According to security sources, Landry Engoulou coordinated the network of vehicles theft.

The seven luxury vehicles retrieved are;

# 1 Hyundai car
# 2 Toyota Prado cars
# 4 Double cabin Toyota Hilux

Vehicle theft: the Crack down

On 28th September, a Gabonese company represented by a certain Mr Obiang Herbert and Y’ Equeyilt filed a complain at the  regional judicial police in Yaounde.
The company had lost seven vehicles within the months of August and September 2018 to thieves .

The suspects were arrested soon after security officials began investigations.

Four of the seven vehicles stolen had already been sold.
All seven were eventually retrieved and brought to the Yaounde Central Police station.

The modus operandi of the network

Police sources affirm that the suspects set up a fake car rental company in one of the countries in the sub region .
The vehicle documents are falsified and security system of the vehicles disrupted.After collecting vehicles from victims the company was closed and move to another country in the sub region where were vehicles are sold.

Criminal History of suspects

Mabicka Mouba Jacques, 40 years old is an ex-convict. He was arrested and detained in 2015 on a similar charge and released just six months ago.

The suspects will be brought to court this 11th October 2018 and the vehicles handed over to the rightful owners.
