Former Indomitable Lion’s Captain, Rigobert Song Bahanag has been appointed Head Coach for the Under-23 Lions of Cameroon.
The celebrated indomitable lion was appointed by the Normalisation Committee at FECAFOOT on Wednesday 17th October 2018 ahead of the 2019 U-23 AFCON.
Before his appointment, the emblematic player of the Cameroon National Football team was Coach of the Intermediate Lions.
Rigobert Song fondly called “Manyang” coached the team to the 2018 African Nations Championship, CHAN in Kenya.
The entire technical bench is made of,
-Deputy Head Coach: Guy Feutchine
-Goalkeepper’s Trainer : Souleymanou Hamidou
-Physical Fitness : Sampabum Kenneth Sama
-Medical Doctor : Ambassa Eleme Gregoire
-Therapist : Elias Kaleguem
-Team Manager : Kalla Ngongo Raymond
Amongst the traditional duties, Song and the rest of the technical team will be incharge of ;
-Identifying local talents to reinforce the U-23 lions.
-Building a strong and agile squad for the upcoming 2019 U-23 AFCON.
-Reviving team spirit within the club
The immediate challenge is the U-23 AFCON qualifier match with Chad.
The 2019 U-23 AFCON will be played in Egypt between 8th-22 November 2019.
At the end of the tournament, three African teams will compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics men’s football tournament in Japan
