Fighting Violence against Women: Cameroon launches 16 Days of Activism

The Minister of Women Empowerment and the Family, Marie Therese Abena Ondoa has called on Cameroonian women to speak up and speak out against Violence.

The Minister made the call this 27th November 2018 as she launched the 16 Days of campaign against gender-based violence.

The campaign comes at a time when
UN Women reports indicate that, one in every three women has experienced some form of violence in Cameroon.

In the presence of the Coordinator of the UN Systems in Cameroon, Allegra Baiocchi, the Minister exhorted Cameroonian women to resist violence and support each other in the fight.

The theme of the 2018 International Day to Eliminate Violence on Women is, “Orange the World: #HearMeToo”.

The 16 Days of Activism to eliminate Violence against Women began on 25th November and ends on 10th December 2018 which is Human Rights Day.
