Fighting corruption: African Parliamentarians on the offensive

The African Parliamentary network against corruption is meeting for a three day colloquium at the National Assembly in Yaounde.

The theme of reflection of the colloquium is “Winning the fight against corruption, a sustainable path to Africa’s transformation, one of the key elements to ensure sustainable development for the continent”.

Discussions are intended to highlight the contribution of parliamentarians in the fight against corruption.

The Deputy Speaker at Cameroon’s National Assembly, Honourable
Hilarion Etong who chaired the opening ceremony of the three day gathering called on law makers to come up with a new agenda to fight corruption in Africa.

He urged them to elaborate a blue print for inclusive actions to win the fight against corruption which remains a threat to peace and security in the continent.
The President of the Cameroon chapter of the African Parliamentary network against Corruption Honourable Amadou Adji declared that the present sitting is an innovative perspective to check corruption.

Such talks he added, will culminant to a multilateral framework for a common and efficient strategy to fight corruption.
The anticorruption colloquium also seeks to reinforce the spirit of togetherness, one to exchange notes.

The African Parliamentary network against corruption is one of the broad based and institutional platforms put in place by governments to foster good governance and kick out corruption from the continent.
