The Health Forever Foundation organized a sensitization campaign on diabetes, obesity and hypertension on 28th November 2018 in Yaounde. Among the foundation’s target health problems
is obesity; a medical condition characterised by excess fat, risky for one’s health
Obesity is a condition in which the Body Mass Index (BMI) is higher than 30.
Tackling the Obesity problem
In Cameroon, experts say obesity is the primary cause of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and even cancer. Medical experts have joined fitness coaches to raise awareness on the dangers of this health disorder. These experts offer a plethora of therapies for preventing or fighting obesity – therapies which usually revolve around lifestyle. Some of these tips are:
# Eating healthy meals ( with much fruits and veggies)
# Drinking plenty of water
# Setting fitness goals
# Exercising regularly
# walking more and driving less
#Eating smaller portions
Proposing tips for weight loss has become a common trend , but health experts accompany these tips with medical therapy. Some of the most the prescribed medical therapies for overcoming weight loss includes weight loss pills, injections and surgery.
The health risks of obesity have pushed experts to continue sounding the alarm bell on risk factors, some of which are; behavioural change, genetic traits , overfeeding, age, bad feeding habits, inactivity and hormonal disorders.
