Classes for the second term of the 2018/2019 academic year have officially resumed nationwide this 7th January 2018.
Pupils and students began making their way to schools as early as 6:00am this Monday morning.
At the Government Bilingual High School Mimboman, classes began at 8:am.
By midday, the teaching and administrative staff held the first planning meeting for the new term.
Meanwhile at Victory Educational Centre Mimboman, nursery and primary schoolers observed break time after three intensive hours of classes.
Mme Philomena Simbi Ngwafor , a nursery two teacher explains the major challenge for the short but decisive term.
” The second term is the crux of the academic year. This is when we evaluate the children to know if they learnt something during the first term. It is particularly challenging because we are adapting teaching methods to suit new the curriculum”.
The same mood prevailed at ” Les Grillions” Mimboman. At break time, the primary schoolers played and exchanged pleasantries with friends after the two week Christmas holiday.
Class six teacher, Mr Nkili Pierre says the stakes are particularly high for pupils in examination classes.
Staff in most schools plan to intensify classes for students in examination classes to ensure good results.
