The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi has met with sports actors in Cameroon.
The meeting brought together Presidents of Sport Federations, officials at the Ministry of sports and other important contributors.
Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi and participants discussed long standing problems that impede the development of sports movements in the country and carved out a 2019 roadmap .
After listening to the many complaints, the Minister instructed federation presidents, sports movements and others in the chain make individual and collective contributions for a successful 2019 season.
The Directors of Standard and Monitoring of Sports Organisations and that of Judicial Affairs promised to jointly chair discussion for the adoption of a harmonised sports document to serve as a guide to all the federations.
Resolutions of the meeting
At the end of the working session chaired by Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, the assembly took six resolutions;
1. Develope frank collaboration between sports federations the public and private sectors for the growth of sports
2. Enforce respect and Discipline within federations (Norms, Values and fairplay)
3. Encourage dialogue within federations
4. Reinforce Social cohesion and the spirit of living together .
5. Favour professionalism and competence
6. Adopt an equitable distribution of human and financial resources
Elections at the Federations
The most crucial issue, identified as led cause of problems within federations appeared to be the fact that
elections has not been carried out in the past three years.
The Director of Standard and Monitoring of Sports Organisations, Bernard Philippe Obama cautioned that elections should be carried out only when all federation presidents come to an agreement.
The Minister promised to reverse the trend and have elections carried out as soon as it becomes possible.
The enlarged meeting has set the pace for the organisation and promotion of sports in the country with due respect of the revised law on sports and physical education.
