Some twenty students of the University of Buea who were kidnapped by unidentified gunmen believed to be separatist fighters have been released.
The twenty students of the University football team were training in one of the campus’ stadia when they were seized.
A local Buea based television station Hitv confirms that all twenty boys abducted were released in the evening of Thursday 21st March 2019.
There are claims that their release was in part thanks to the South West branch of the National Commission for Human Rights and Freedoms.
During their time with the captors, the students were severely tortured.
Shortly after the release, the serious cases were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
