Inter-urban road transport agencies suspended: The genesis
Officials statistics indicate that an average of six thousand people die from road accidents each year.
The recurrence of road accidents prompted Government to make a diagnosis of the situation.
Amongst the findings are the poor state of the roads and bad working conditions in some of these travel agencies.
Managers were given a one-month timeline to comform to the laws and decisions laid down by Government.
The Ministry of Transport awarded licences to all 16 companies that respected the guidelines.
A total of 85 did not; they are presently considered operating clandestinely.
It is on this basis that the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe signed a communique, suspending the activities of these companies for a period of one month.
