UK, Australia joins Singapore to temporarily ban Max planes
Australia has joined Singapore to temporarily ban the 737 Max aircraft from flying into and out of Australian airspace.
The ban comes after Sunday’s Ethiopian airline fatal crash which left 157 people dead.
Since the accident happened, experts have been questioning the airliners air worthiness.
Australia’s decision comes to add to the long list of 16 countries that have grounded the 737 Max 8 airliner. However, Eight other airliners still use the aircraft.
Following the crash, the US Federal Aviation Administration issued a ” continued air worthiness notification ” , insisting the aircraft was safe to fly.
What’s the problem with 737 Max 8?
Sunday’s crash is a second involving the same aircraft in less then five months.
On 29th October 2018, a fairly new Max 8 aircraft operated by Lion Air , crashed into the Java Sea after losing control. 189 passengers on board all were killed in the crash.
This new incident involving the same aircraft has prompted civil aviation authorities and airlines to pinpoint similarities between the two incidents.
The big question the experts are asking is whether the problem is with the planes , the pilot, a flight control software problem or design?
According to reports, both planes crashed minutes after take off. Another indicator is both pilots reported problems with airspeed and asked to return to the airport.
Although the real cause of the Sunday’s crash is yet to be known, experts are beginning to suspect the planes all crashed due to technical difficulties.
