The Cadet Lions Cameroon have migrated to the semi-finals of the ongoing Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania.
Cameroon came from behind to beat Morocco 2-1 this Thursday 18th April 2019 in Tanzania.
The victory has not only advanced Cameroon to the semi-final stage but helped the baby lions clinch a place at the 2019 World Cup.
Their second win of the tournament means Cameroon has a game to spare (day-3 match to be fielded with Senegal on Sunday 21st April 2019).
In their opening match on Monday 15th April 2019, Cameroon beat Guinea 2-0.
Cameroon vs Morocco as it happened
Morocco took the lead in the 22nd minute through Tawfik Bentayeb after a slip in the Cameroonian defence.
Ismaila Seidou equalised in the 73rd minute as his shot from a narrow angle eluded the keeper who seemed to dive the wrong way.
Another defensive error handed Seidou the winner in injury time. The Cameroonian exploited the weakness of the Moroccan captain, Achraf Ramzi, who was trying to dribble out of the penalty area.
This left Cameroon at 2-1, a win that has turned their situation in the competition for the best.
It will be only Cameroon’s second appearance at the Under-17 World Cup after their debut in 2003 in Finland, when three draws was not enough to see them progress from the group phase.
All four semi-finalists from Tanzania will earn a place at the World Cup in Brazil later this year.
