The National Council for the Approval of Textbooks and Didactic Materials is meeting in a four-day session to examine textbooks for the Seconde class of the Francophone subsystem of education.
Forty-three selected textbooks are up for evaluation by thirteen experts in the meeting that opened this 15th April 2019.
The Vice President of the National Council for the Approval of Textbooks and Didactic Materials detailed the criteria applied in chosing the textbooks.
– Books’ content must be up to 75% of the syllabus
– Books must fulfil the competency-based approach of teaching
– Books must be sociologically and ideologically correct
She explains that the objective of the selection exercise is to ensure that every child has an appriopiate textbook in each subject.
The textbooks selected to be used for a period of six years is in line with the Prime Ministerial Decision to drop the number of textbooks per class.
