The Gendarmerie: National campaign against corruption and abuse heightens
Just one month after the official launch of the toll free number 1501 to denounce corruption and abuse perpetrated by Gendarmes, more than 100 officers have been sanctioned.
The Head of the Operational Command Post of the National Gendarmerie, Georges Parfait Nana II states that as soon as a denunciation is registered, investigations begin.
He says the internal rules of the gendarmerie specifies the different levels of sanctions applied as soon as guilt is established.
The sanctions include;
-#Suspension with/without detention of the guilty officer
-#Suspension with impact on salary, promotion, distinctions and career of the guilty officer
– #Punitive transfer
– #Demotion
The Head of the national command post affirmed that since the launch of the vast campaign against corruption and other abuses the number of calls have risen from 15 to 80 per week.
The campaign posits that the relation between the Gendarmerie and the population is so precious and must be upheld.
