2019 AFCON: The Indomitable Lions meet a resilient crowd in Egypt
The AFCON 2017 Champions, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are finally in Egypt to defend their title.
The team arrived on Friday 21st June 2019 at 9:30 pm Egyptian time to a hilarious welcome from fans.
Though far from home, it was a full Cameroon family in Egypt that turned out as show of their special attachment to the darling team through songs, dances while waving the green, red and yellow colours.
Despite the long wait at the airport, the dynamic Cameroonian population in Egypt immediately stole the show at the airport.
All present struggled hard to shake hands and take snapshots with the reigning champions of Africa.
The players could hardly force their way through the excited and resilient crowd.
The players appeared tired but responded favourably to the heavy smiles, shouts of joy, the hugs from compatriots.
After the brief communion with the population, the Lions drove to their hotel, few kilometres away.
The delegation was led by Cameroon’s Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi who saluted the huge mobilisation of fans.
The arrival of the Lions was delayed for 24hours due to financial misunderstanding between the Cameroonian Football body , FECAFOOT and the players.
But the Indomitable Lions are finally in Egypt and will begin training before their debut match on Tuesday 25th June 2019.
The first match to be fielded at the Ismailia stadium shall be against Guinea Bissau.
