ELECAM: Elecoral Board discuss forthcoming elections and recent reforms

The second ordinary session of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon for the year 2019 has held in Yaounde.

The session was presided over by the chairman of the Electoral Board of ELECAM, Enoh Abrams Egbe.
On the agenda was essentially aspects relating to upcoming elections in Cameroon.

The board discussed;

# The terms of reference for field trips scheduled for 1st to 16th July 2019.

# ways of inciting voters to the polls

#better election management

# maintenance of biometric registration kits.

The ELECAM Board also examined, and adopted the reports of the 3rd and 4th ordinary sessions of of the board that held on 20th September and 18th December 2018 and 1st ordinary session that took place in 15th March 2019.

The ordinary session was occasion to familiarise with the new dispositions contained in the Electoral law of 25th June 2019.

ELECAM Board Chair saluted stakeholders and International partners for the setting up of permanent platform for dialogue at Regional levels for real time information sharing to mitigate the effects of misinformation before, during and after elections.

He indicated that Elecam targets seven million voters in the short run and ten million voters in the long run.

He said Elecam is working on improving its system in order to uphold the credibility of the process.
