The Prime Minister – Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute and three cabinet Ministers have responded to questions from members of Parliament.
The members of government took to the restrum during a plenary session dedicated to oral questions from MP addressed to members of government.
The session was chaired by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Honourable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril.
The first question of the day was addressed to the Prime Minister – Head of Government by CPDM MP Nzognou Fotsa-Ndong.
Question to PM
The member of parliament questioned the Prime Minister of the reasons of Cameroon’s failure to host AFCON 2019 and measures taken to ensure a successful organization on the new date.
The Prime Minister assured parliament that Cameroon will host the 2021 edition of the African Cup of Nations. He said construction works sports infrastructures are on course. Hospital and hotel are available in line with CAF regulations.
Question to Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development
Amadou Adji, NUDP MP questioned the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Gabriel Mbaïrobe on the use of Roundop; an ecotoxic substance that is said to provoke cancer.
The Minister said government proceeds with caution and investigation before taking decision. However farmers should use personal protection gadgets when manipulating such substances pending the decision of the 29th National Homologation and certification commission.
Question to Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education
Honourable Paul Danata of the CPDM asked the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education to shedlight on the management of 102 billion CFA Francs allocated to his ministry for the socioeconomic insertion of young Cameroonians. He questioned why only four billion had been used and why the slowness in financing projects.
Youth Affairs and Civic Education Minister Mounouna Foutsou indicated that despite security crisis that has affected the treasury, the three year special youth plan is well on course. The different ministries concerned by the plan are working in synergy to provide employment, training and follow up of youths.
The oral questions session is part of activities carried out by members of parliament to control government action. This is the first round of questions addressed to Members of government during the second session of the 2019 legislative year.
