NW/SW: Curfew lifted in the North West region

The Governor of the North West Region, Adolphe Lele Lafrique has lifted a curfew that was imposed on the region since 9th September 2018.

The third curfew that limited the movement of people and goods within the region from 6am to 6pm was lifted on Friday, 14th June 2019.

The Governor’s decision was taken following relative calm that had returned to the region that had been battling seccessionist fighters.

The decision was taken as a security measure to reinforce the maintenance of peace and order in the region.

At the time of the decision, the population was urged to collaborate with Forces of Law and order in order to put an end to criminal activities perpetrated by seccessionists immediately after night travels within the region and the other parts of the country came to a halt.

Night business activities also went on recess. Some of these activities are gradually resuming after close to ten months.
