Protecting women and children in crisis: Cameroon and development partners launch a  project 

 

 

The government and some  development partners have  launched a project to  reinforce the protection of women and girls affected by the different crisis in Cameroon. 

Innitiators of the  project posit that 2/3 of internally displaced persons are women and children who are exposed to various forms of violence.

Stakeholders are seeking a  holistic approach to a rapid humanitarian response for the protection of women and girls affected by the crisis.

The three-level-approach to  the protection of women and children involves;

 

#Finding suitable protection of the women and children, victims of crisis and especially training them to become economically viable.

 

#Sensitising the population on the  need to protect women  and girls during periods of crisis.

 

# Building the capacity of Security and defence forces in the protection and defence of the rights of women and children in times of crisis.

 

During  the ceremony, over 300 internally displaced persons, victims of the socio-political crisis in the North West and South West regions received hygiene kits  as innitial support.

The project launched in Yaounde shall be jointly executed by;

 

#The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the family

#The General Delegation for National Security

# The National Gendarmerie,

#The Martin LutherKing Jr.foundation -Cameroon

#The Centre for Human Rights and Peace Advocacy
