2019 All Africa Games: AU Ambassador hands over flag to host country Morocco

The African Union Commissioner for Social Affairs, Amira Elfadil Mohammed has handed over the AU flag to the All Africa Games host country Morocco.

The flag was received by the Moroccan Minister of Youth and Sport, Rachid Talbi El Alami.

The brief ceremony took place at the Games Village at the International University of Rabat ahead of the official opening ceremony of the games this Monday 19th August 2019.

The AU Ambassador thanked the government of Morocco for taking the challenge of hosting the biggest games on the African continent.

She hopes that bringing the African countries together through sports will help achieve the objectives of the African Union Department of Social Affairs which include;

– To achieve greater unity and solidarity between the African countries and the peoples of Africa;

– To defend the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of its Member States;

– To accelerate the political and socio-economic integration of the continent.

During the event, Moroccan Minister of Youth and Sport, Rachid Talbi El Alami was handed a symbolic gift from the African Union for accepting to organise the African Olympics.

The official opening ceremony of the 12th edition of the All Africa Games will take place this Monday 19th August 2019 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium with 54 countries participating.
