Though Cameroon was beaten out of the competition at the semi-finals stage, the country’s lone boxer still in competition, was awarded a bronze medal.
Mambou Dorine in the -57kg female boxing category lost to Mali’s Colette Camara by a 5-0 score.
She contained her Ghanian opponent at the quarter finals by a 5-0 score to save a spot at the semi-finals.
Cameroon’s All Africa Games boxing champion in Brazaville, Wilfrid Seyi had an early exit in the game.
Team Cameroon is looking forward to getting more medals after qualifying the for final in four and more disciplines.
Handball: In the semi-final match, the Lionesses beat DR Congo 35-25 to qualify for the finals.
This far, the girls have kept a clean sheet to face Angola in the final of the handball competition.
Volleyball: The lionesses will face Kenya for a second time, in the finals.
Kenya had won her first game against Cameroon in the preliminary stage in a 3 set to 1 game.
The finals to be played in Rabat on Friday 30th August might be an opportunity to seek revenge.
So far team Cameroon is 14th on the medal classification table with 10 medals; 2 gold, 1 silver and 7 bronze.
Egypt leads the medal chat with 37 gold medals followed by South Africa with 10 gold medals.
