2019 All Africa Games: Team Cameroon sent off in style

The National Olympic and Sports Committee has sent off 121 athletes participating at the 12th edition of the All Africa Games in a flag handing over ceremony to team Cameroon at the committee headquarters in Yaounde.

The ceremony took place this Tuesday 13th August 2019 in presence of the Minister of Sports and Physical Education Narcisse Mouelle Kombi representative of the Head of State Paul Biya.

Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, President of the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee said each discipline and and athletes chosen to represent Cameroon at the AGG were rigorously scrutinised in regards to the current economic situation of the country.

He added that within each sports, preference was given to sportsmen and women with real chances to win medals and qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Mr Kalkaba appreciated the efforts put in by the different parties who were involved in the preparation of the athletes for the games.

He called on the athletes to respect the rules of the games, the values of friendship, decisions of referees, and their opponents in pure Olympic tradition.

A total of 121 athletes will represent Cameroon in 12 different disciplines at the 2019 AAG.

The Sawa traditional regalia has been chosen as the cultural outfit the athletes will represent Cameroon with at the opening ceremony in Rabat. The Kaba Ngondo for the women and the Sanja for the men.

The Minister of Sports and Physical Education Narcisse Mouelle Kombi congratulated all participation athletes and urged them to represent Cameroon with pride and honour.

He handed the Cameroon flag to the Olympic team and shook the hands of all participating athletes and wished them success for the Rabat games.
