The International Telecommunications Union in collaboration with the Government of Cameroon are organising the second central sub-regional Radiocommunication workshop in prelude of the 2019 World Radiocommunication Conference to hold in Egypt.
The four days sub-regional Radiocommunication workshop in Yaounde is to put together the views of the Central Africa subregion on the use of Radiocommunication spectrums to be represented at the 2019 World Radiocommunication Conference.
Radiocommunication experts from the Central Africa Subregion will focus on three main issues.
#Comparative presentation of the results of the work carried out within Cameroon’s preparatory bodies.
# Deliberations on interest related points to the sudregional agenda.
# Elaboration of the position of the sub-region in prelude to the World Radiocommunication Conference.
The Representative of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) for Cameroon and Madagascar, Jean Jacques Massima-Landji says this conference is aimed at helping countries achieve a certain degree of social economic welfare.
Mr Massima says the position of the Central Africa Subregion will be to propose a more affordable spectrum that can be used for their different services.
About the World Radiocommunication Conference
World Radiocommunication Conferences (WRC) are held every three to four years.
It is the job of WRC to review, and, if necessary, revise the Radio Regulations, the international treaty governing the use of the radio-frequency spectrum and the geostationary-satellite and non-geostationary-satellite orbits.
Revisions are made on the basis of an agenda determined by the ITU Council, which takes into account recommendations made by previous world radiocommunication conferences.
Under the terms of the ITU Constitution, a WRC can:
# Revise the Radio Regulations and any associated Frequency assignment and allotment Plans
# Address any radiocommunication matter of worldwide character
# Instruct the Radio Regulations Board and the Radiocommunication Bureau, and review their activities.
The 2019 World Radiocommunication Conference will take place in Sharm El Sheikh Egypt from 28th October 2019 to 22nd November 2019.
