Thirteen councils competing for a total cash prize of FCFA 100 million will be known in less than twenty-four hours.
Phillipe Camille Akoa, Director General of FEICOM and the international jury responded to questions from the media on the organization of the contest this 22nd August 2019 during a press conference.
The third FEICOM National Award ceremony takes place on Friday , 2t3rd August 2019. at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel.
A total of 117 submissions , constituting 144 projects have been examined by the twelve-man international jury, headed by Mme Raharinjatavo Hanitra.
FEICOM National Councils’ Award : The selection criteria
All 144 council projects have been evaluated on five major criteria.
# Management of Resources
# Local Governance
# Sustainable Development
#Local Economic Development
# Management of facilities and Infrastructure
The winning projects are required to be participatory and positively impactful to the community .
Projects should equally be sustainable, innovative and transferable to other actors of the community’s development.
FEICOM National Councils Award : The Cash awards
The total amount for the competition is FCFA 100 million .
Out of that amount, FCFA 80 million will go to the three best winners as follows;
First prize : FCFA 50 million
Second Prize : FCFA 20 million
Third Prize : FCFA 10 million
Ten other councils from the ten regions will receive consolatory Prizes , amounting to the sum of FCFA 20million.
The organizers have promised to accompany the implementation of laudable council projects which will not feature on award lists.
The FEICOM National Award identifies , evaluates, rewards and promotes development practices of regional and local authorities.
The second edition of the contest was won by The Union of Councils of Mbam and Inoubou Division ( SYCOMI) in 2016.
