MIDA: second phase of the reimbursement operation launched

Some 3000 victims of the MIDA scam have been invited be present themselves or their representatives for the second phase of reimbursements made by government. The Governor of the Centre region, Naseri Paul Bea launched the second and final phase of the reimbursement operation on Monday, 19 August 2019 in Yaoundé.

He said government has allocated the sum of 400 million CFA francs for the exercise that ends of Friday, 23rd August 2019.

The exercise will take place at the Military stadium in Yaoundé under the supervision of the Governor of the Centre region.

Governor Naseri Paul Bea said all beneficiaries should present valid identification papers and payment receipt signed by the officials of MIDA while representatives should present duly signed proxies.

The “Integration and Development Mission for Africa” ​​(MIDA), is a fraudulent network that was dismantled by the government extorted money from individuals promising to payback with interest. The officials of the disband association are under investigation.

During the first repayment phase, some 8,000 subscribers were paid. The amount received was equivalent to 31% of the subscriber’s investment. A total of 11,000 registered subscribers will be reimbursed 4, 8 billion FCFA by the end of this repayment process decided by government in May 2018.
