2020 CHAN : Sports Minister convene stakeholders to review preparation

The Ministry of Sports and Physical Education is meeting with actors involved in the organisation of the 2020 African Nations Championship, CHAN and 2021 AFCON.

 

The ongoing workshop started Wednesday 18th September 2019 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.

Representatives incharge of construction and renovation works in all host cities partner ministries, experts from diverse fields and the organising committees are present.

The officials are listening to a presentation of all sites and facilities to be occupied during the 2020 CHAN and 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.

During the opening session, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi just back from an inspection tour, expressed satisfaction with the level of execution of all projects earmarked.

 

He said the tournaments will be opportunity for Cameroon to showcase her football and cultural prowess.

Seminar facilitator, Dr Nhanack Tonye discussed the importance of participants to be familiarised with the requirements and good practices of CAF Competitions.

On sports infrastructure

Dr Nhanack Tonye, Director of Tournaments specified that playgrounds must be endowed with features to meet FIFA standards with regular maintenance schedule including;
-Access roads
-High security
-The availability of 16 – 20 cameras
-A media centre and a tribune amongst others.

Lodging and social facilities

The following specifications are required;

-Hotels: A good host capacity, secured and close to football stadia

-Leisure sites: Maximum security and great sanitation

-Hospital: Equipped and located in proximity with stadia.

On Protocol

The assembly was reminded of the need to integrate only well mannered persons expected to be very warm to delegations.

As the working session ends, each of the different commissions will be expected to propose ideas for ensure successful 2020 CHAN.
