Pharmacists in Cameroon have organised a week long campaign to raise awareness on the importance of quality drugs.
Activities started on 22nd September to end on 28th September 2019 and were organised under the theme “Pharmacist for global goals” is in its first edition.
Ngong, Tcheboa Division in the North region was the focus.
The initiative stems from pharmacists activities which were usually organised annually in the town of Ngong and later extended to Douala and Yaounde.
Cameroon Pharmacist Week: The activities
A number of activities have been organised to highlight the importance of quality medicine.
– Roundtable discussions
– Sports Walks
– The screening for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases
– Sensitization on the effects of drug abuse
– Promotion of oral hygiene and the distribution of toothbrushes.
– Donation of one hundred school kits to orphans and vulnerable children in the Tcheboa Division.
The chairperson of the organising committee Doctor Bruno Dinba said the choice of Ngong in the North region was to highlight the diversity and the camaraderie of Cameroonian pharmacists.
The World Pharmacists Day (every 25th September) initiated 10 years ago by the International Pharmaceutical Federation FIP is in line with activities of Cameroon pharmacists.
